GTR Autocross Day at Autoclub Speedway, August 14, 2010
We are organizing another GTR Autocross Day on Saturday August 14, in conjunction with Speedventures.com. We will be meeting at the shop just before heading out to this event. Many of you already know what this is as you have participated in our past events or other similar events with other groups/clubs. Basically, this is the most fun you can have in a car (with your clothes on, that is).
The Autocross event will take place at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, CA so it is local for most people. It is a great opportunity to sample autocrossing and serves as a good learning tool for those that may want to eventually start road-racing. It is a very safe, controlled way to toss your car into corners and learn car control and how to drive at the limit. Because the course is laid out on a huge empty parking lot, there is virtually no risk of hitting a wall, tire barrier or other cars. Only one car is allowed to run on the course at a time, so there is no "wheel to wheel" racing, minimizing risk. Worst thing that can happen is you will run over a small, orange pylon cone...which hurts the cone far more than the car. Well, it might hurt your ego a bit, but that is about it.
Please visit our gallery to see a video from our last GTR Autocross day. It will give you guys an idea of what is involved. IT IS A LOT OF FUN!! Those of you that have done it, will agree with me! It is open to all cars, makes, models and driver skill/level. Don't feel you have to have a highly modified car to participate or have crazy driving skills like me :) to take part in this event. This is an excellent venue to get your feet wet or improve your car control/driving skill.
Anyhow, since this is a GTR group event, we have been offered a group rate/discounted rates if we can gather at least 10 cars/drivers or more to register. Normal registration is $80 for the entire day (LOTS of track time!). If we can get 10 or more cars/drivers, our rate will be $70 per driver. I know it is only a minor discount, but it helps motivate a lot of us to go out there. Moreover, it is a great way to spend the day playing with your cars amongst your friends/peers with the same interest: GOING FAST!!
Speedventures also said that if we manage to gather 20-25 cars/drivers as part of our GTR group, we will be given our own run class. That way we don't have to share our run class with other makes and models.

Battle of the Brands Dyno Day, August 28, 2010
GTR High Performance will be hosting a Battle of the Brands Dyno Day Shootout on Saturday, August the 28th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Makes invited are Ford, MOPAR, and GM. Any late-model Ford, Mopar, or GM street vehicle is allowed. There will be trophies for each class winner and an overall trophy for the highest horsepower car. Lunch will be provided to those people participating in the dyno-contest. The dyno rate will be $50 per car and each car will get 3 dyno passes with air to fuel ratio, HP, and TQ in colored printout.
